For those seeking to embrace the electric revolution, the i5 is available in eDrive40 and M60 variants. The eDrive40, with its single rear-mounted motor, delivers 335 horsepower and 295 lb-ft torque (317 with overboost), clocking 60 mph in 5.7 seconds before topping out at a regulated 120 mph. Conversely, the M60 variant harnesses a dual-motor arrangement, pumping out a hefty 590 horsepower and 549 lb-ft torque (605 with overboost).

The electric M Performance version can bolt from zero to 60 mph in a mere 3.7 seconds and keeps on until electronically tethered at 143 mph. Both of these emission-free 5 Series models share an 84.3 kWh battery pack, allowing the rear-wheel-drive version to cover an estimated 295 miles per charge, and the more powerful all-wheel-drive version to achieve around 256 miles.
