School: Tendo Ryu Naginata Jutsu Event: 36th Asakusa Kobudo Taikai Date: 21/04/2018 Venue: Taito Riverside Sports Center Representative: Kimura Yasuko (17th generation) -- PRESENTATION: TENDO RYU NAGINATA JUTSU -- Tendo Ryu is a self-proclaimed Sogo-bujutsu, a comprehensive martial art, which boasts a technical curriculum that supposedly enables its practitioners to face multiple battle situations. It is known mostly nowadays for its Naginata techniques (Japanese glaive), but the practice includes many different weapons, such as the long and short sword, the use of two swords simultaneously, the dagger, the staff (representing a broken Naginata), and the Kusarigama (Japanese sickle linked to a ball by a chain). The school was founded in 1582 by a special character, Saito Denkibo, who trained under the famous Tsukahara Bokuden. It was then transmitted through many generations up to its current master, Ms. Kimura Yasuko, who is also an important figure in the modern “Atarashii” Naginata world. --- CREDITS --- Footage by Seido Co., Ltd.: https://www.seidoshop.com (en) http://www.seidoshop.jp (jp) http://www.budoexport.com (fr) --- MUSIC --- All This by Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) CC 3.0 |
