The T14 Assault Tank was commissioned by the British Tank Mission in the US in a bid to make a universal infantry/heavy/assault tank for the allies. The T14 was similar the the M4 Sherman both in shape and in components used, however the T14 did not share the M4's reliability or crew comfort. In testing the T14 was found to be unsuitable for the following reasons; lack of crew safety, mechanical deficiencies, component inaccessibility, and lackluster performance.
