The Delhi Police Special Cell on Wednesday arrested Maulana Anzar Shah Qasmi from Banashankari for making hate speeches and forging links with a terrorist organization in Pakistan. Anzar, brought to Delhi on a transit remand, was produced before a magistrate on Thursday. He is being interrogated at Special Cell's headquarters in Delhi. This is the fourth arrest in the operation against al-Qaida in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS), the newest branch of the terrorist organization. Also under the scanner are his connections with the ISI. Once employed in a mosque in Tilaknagar, Bengaluru, he was asked to leave after he delivered a fiery speech demeaning women. The maulana, who studied at Darul Uloom, Deoband, is said to have some followers in Bengaluru.
