The electorate encompasses Northland and parts of Auckland region - extends from Cape Reinga in the north to the northern fringes of Auckland City in the south. It includes the communities of North Shore city, part of Waitakere city, Whangārei, Bay of Islands, and Dargaville.

The seat is held by the Mana Movement leader, Hone Harawira, who's standing against Labour's Kelvin Davis, the Māori Party's Te Hira Paenga and Independent candidate, Clinton Dearlove.
