Opposition against the signing into law of the National Health Insurance Bill in its current form, is increasing.

President Cyril Ramaphosa plans to sign the Bill at the Union Buildings on Wednesday, a move that may be legally challenged.

The NHI Bill aims to provide universal access to quality healthcare for all South Africans, rich or poor.

But questions remain about how it will be funded and how it will work.
At the same time, the Congress of South African Trade Unions welcomes the move, saying it's time the country moved from the apartheid legacy of unequal healthcare access.
