Tibet has an average altitude of 4380 metres. If you knew this do hit the like button. It is true modern commercial airliner fly at 9500 metres to 11500 metres, but if there is any emergency the aircraft has to decent to a safe altitude of 2438 metres, before emergency oxygen run out. But in Tibet the average altitude is 4380 metres, much higher than the safer altitude.

Moving ahead, Tibet is also very remote when it comes to aerodrome, so if any emergency arises, it has to divert to Lhasa, which by the way is also a long detour.
