Biografía
Es un actor irlandés que ha trabajado en películas como Braveheart, The General, Gangs of New York, Troya, In Bruges y la saga de Harry Potter.
Debido a The Field consiguió papeles en Hollywood de bajo presupuesto, haciendo siempre de inglés o irlandés, incluso en la pequeña pantalla con la serie The Teatry, producida por la RTÉ One, donde interpretó a Michael Collins. Por su participación en esta película recibió el Jacob's Award, en 1992.

En 2002 fue reclutado por el afamado director Martin Scorsese para dar vida al personaje Walter 'Monk' McGinn en la famosa Gangs of New York.
En 1995 intervino en la galardonada y épica Braveheart dando vida a Hamish, el recio y robusto escocés, mano derecha y fiel amigo de William Wallace (Mel Gibson).

En cuanto a su vida personal, Gleeson se casó con Mary en 1982, y tienen cuatro hijos en común (Domhnall, Fergus, Brian y Rory). Vive en Malahide, un suburbio de Dublín, y además de actor es también un talentoso músico, sabiendo tocar el fiddle (o violín celta, instrumento que ha conquistado su lugar en la música tradicional celta, especialmente en Irlanda y Escocia).

is an Irish actor who has worked in films such as Braveheart, The General, Gangs of New York, Troy, In Bruges and the Harry Potter saga.

Due to The Field he landed low-budget Hollywood roles, always playing English or Irish, even on the small screen with the series The Teatry, produced by RTÉ One, where he played Michael Collins. For his participation in this film he received the Jacob's Award, in 1992.

In 2002 he was recruited by famed director Martin Scorsese to play the character Walter 'Monk' McGinn in the famous Gangs of New York.

In 1995 he starred in the award-winning epic Braveheart as Hamish, the tough and robust Scotsman, right-hand man and faithful friend of William Wallace (Mel Gibson).

Regarding his personal life, Gleeson married Mary in 1982, and they have four children together (Domhnall, Fergus, Brian and Rory). He lives in Malahide, a suburb of Dublin, and in addition to being an actor he is also a talented musician, knowing how to play the fiddle (or Celtic violin, an instrument that has conquered its place in traditional Celtic music, especially in Ireland and Scotland).
