Profit Meets Purpose - Investing in Human Rights | Ameena Majid | TEDxFarmingdale |

The truth is that human rights policy and business practices are very fractured. By including elements of a human rights strategy as performance metrics into incentive compensation structures of companies, we can foster a culture change that can have global impact. When a company re-examines its culture to create alignment between its purpose and values to create both profit and impact, the role of human rights - and specifically remediating modern slavery - is elevated as a business practice and not just humanitarian efforts. This is the kind of truth companies are currently faced with. By combining her experience with executive compensation and passion for human rights, Ameena helps her clients continually adapt to evolving societal and investor expectations on their businesses. Blending legal, practical and human perspectives, Ameena uses her expertise as a business attorney to educate clients on the changing legal landscape of addressing human rights and translating it to policy and practice. Ameena has a deep belief that harmony exists when profits and purpose are aligned. Ameena is a director with Stop the Traffik USA, a nonprofit affiliate of Stop the Traffik, an international NGO dedicated to using technology to disrupt human trafficking. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
