What happens when the blades of a wind turbine are removed? A stronger wind turbine. That may appear absurd, but it is the model of a new wind turbine prototype. The turbine, rather than rotating blades in the air, is merely a hollow straw that sits 40 feet above ground and vibrates like a guitar string when the wind blows. For thousands of years, people have used wind energy. Previously, energy was generated by spinning an airborne wing. Wind energy is the most efficient and cost-effective method of producing clean, non-polluting electricity. In contrast to fossil fuels, wind is free, abundant, clean, and renewable.

Wind turbines with revolving blades are now visually disruptive, mechanically inefficient, produce noise pollution, and have been linked to negative health consequences in persons living nearby. Furthermore, bladed wind turbines have been shown to pose a serious threat to animals such as birds and bats, killing about 600,000 birds every year. Because of its numerous drawbacks, a number of towns and municipalities throughout the world have prohibited the building and operation of bladed wind turbines.

From sailboats to windmills, the wind has been a vital source of energy throughout human history. It has gained appeal in recent years as a low-cost, ecologically friendly alternative to fossil fuels. Electricity-generating wind turbines are older than we would think. In 1888, Charles F. Brush created the first wind turbine. It had 144 wooden blades and could generate 12 kilowatts of power. Wind turbines convert the kinetic energy of the wind into mechanical energy. This mechanical energy may be transformed into electricity using a generator, which can then be used for specialized tasks such as direct grid connection and battery charging.

A bladeless wind turbine is one that operates without the need of blades, gears, or shafts. It is based on the science of aeroelastic resonance, which harnesses energy from movement emission. Wind energy is gathered through a resonance phenomena known as vortex shedding, which is created by aerodynamic movement. When wind travels over a blunt body, the flow is altered, resulting in a cyclical pattern of vortices. When the frequency of these forces reaches that of the body's structural frequency, the body begins to vibrate and gets into resonance with the wind. This is sometimes referred to as Vortex-Induced Vibration.

Bladeless technology is simply a vertically fixed cylinder with an elastic rod attached to it. The cylinder is oscillated by a wind range, which generates power via an alternator system. It is a resonant wind generator with vortex-induced vibration. The bladeless windmill is extremely simple to construct. The conical mast is vertically pivoted by a cylindrical rod placed within a roller bearing and vibrates in just one direction. The region beneath the pivot is covered with a metal sheet. The top half of the mast sways in the breeze, while the bottom portion is attached to the crankshaft.

The design of such a wind turbine, of course, differs greatly from that of a regular turbine. Instead of the conventional tower, nacelle, and blades, this system is made up entirely of a lightweight mast installed on a base. This saves money on raw materials and avoids the need for a deeper foundation, allowing it to pay for itself sooner.

Bladeless turbines are incredibly light, with gravity centers close to the ground. As a consequence, anchoring or foundation requirements are substantially reduced as compared to ordinary turbines, making installation much easier.

Because these turbines have a smaller swept area, more turbines may be placed on the same surface area, compensating for the loss of power efficiency with space efficiency in a cost-effective way. In bladeless wind turbines, there are only a few moving parts. They not only serve to minimize noise, but they are also non-hazardous to birds.
