El Nino weather develops in tropical Pacific

video thumbnail
Meteorologists are warning that an El Nino weather phenomenon is developing in the tropical Pacific Ocean and could have a far worse effect on our climate this time around.
This is because the Pacific is already warmer than usual for this time of the year because of climate change.
The global shift in weather pattern from La Nina could lead to more hurricanes and rainfall in some areas, while causing droughts in others.

Al Jazeera’s Colin Baker reports.
