Despite the Punjab government's strict directions to not burn stubble, the farmers have been burning their crop residues. Meanwhile, the smoke from the burning stubble is heading towards the national capital and will severely deteriorate the air quality in a matter of days. Can the Punjab government do more in preventing farmers from burning stubble?

दिल्ली-एनसीआर में शनिवार सुबह जब लोगों की नींद खुली तो धुंध और धुएं का साया एक बार फिर से आसमान पर छाया था. ये एक बेहद खतरनाक संकेत है. दिल्ली के आनंद विहार में हवा की गुणवता शनिवार को खतरनाक स्तर को पार कर चुकी है. यहां का एयर क्वालिटी इंडेक्स 699 तक पहुंच गया था. एयर क्वालिटी इंडेक्स वो पैरामीटर है, जिसमें सांस के रूप में ली जाने वाली ऑक्सीजन की शुद्धता मापी जाती है. इस लिहाज से ये हवा सांस लेने के लिए कतई मुफीद नहीं है.
