In this video, I will be discussing the leveraging effect of the choices we make in life. This principle is often called the 'slight edge' or 'compound effect’, it is a fundamental concept in self-improvement. In life we make daily choices that at the time seem insignificant, these choices range from, eating that extra slice of cake or choosing to read instead of watching TV. Often, when we make these choices we are unsure about their long-term effects. The mind is myopic regarding time, it understands time at a basic level. If I tell you to meet me at 9 AM tomorrow for a coffee, you would be able to comprehend this as an elementary request. When we look at longer time periods ranging from months to years, our minds begin to get bamboozled. We are not psychics hence can’t predict the future, yet each one of us has the capacity to make educated guesses based on the layed out evidence of cause and effect. Proper prognostication demands that we look at the evidence around us. It doesn’t take a genius to discern the relationship between smoking and poor health, between consumption of junk food and obesity, between self-improvement and life success. A good habit to begin today is to look at the stimulus that you are exposed to daily. To investigate the: music your listen to, friends you hang out with, YouTube videos you watch, food you eat etc. Perform a mental experiment in which you interpolate the results of your life in 5 years if you were to continue living the way that you are. If you find activities that are inimical to your self-growth, cut them out as you would a cancer in the body. If you find things that are positively influencing your life, focus more on them and keep them sacred. ►Join my Private self-improvement Facebook group http://bit.ly/FBActualizationgroup ►Get a free audiobook with my Audible 30 day free trial: http://amzn.to/2tEs3MR ( affiliate link + Cancel anytime ) ►Blog: @http://www.therealizedman.com/ ►Music: http://www.bensound.com/royalty-free-music/cinematic |
