Oil prices leaped — exceeding $130 a barrel to touch a 13-year high — on the possibility that the United States and its allies will completely ban Russian oil and natural gas imports. Separately, U.S. Speaker Nancy Pelosi said the House is “exploring strong legislation that will further isolate Russia from the global economy,” including a ban on oil imports and steps to “deny Russia access to the World Trade Organization.” Meanwhile on the ground in Ukraine, Russian forces appear to have made no significant movement over the past day, according to a senior U.S. Defense official. Leading elements of the Russian advance remain outside Kyiv, Kharkhiv and Chernihiv as they’re met by strong Ukrainian resistance. Poland, Ukraine and the United States are in talks on a deal that would get more MiG fighter jets into the hands of Ukraine.
