Drew: So when I heard through a friend that they were starting to offer trans health care, I was very excited. You’re looking for these trans-friendly places, these trans-friendly, educated, compassionate people. And in our specific area, it’s harder to come by.

Planned Parenthood doctor: And tell me, you know, what have you completed so far in your transition? And what can we help you with to move forward with your goals?

Drew: Well, I started testosterone...

Drew: They understand me, they get me, they’re listening to me. Listening, to me, is the biggest thing.

GFX: Drew founded The Union, a support and social resource group for the transgender community in Kansas City.

Drew: What gives me the most joy? Seeing myself in pictures or the mirror, and seeing someone that I feel like has always been there but is just now, from 25 years old to now where I’m at 32, is just now making an appearance."
