(6 Jun 2020) Hundreds of people gathered at Place de la Concorde, close to the US Embassy, in Paris on Saturday to show solidarity with US protesters and to denounce the alleged brutality of the French Police
Demonstrations have been sparked worldwide after the death of George Floyd, a black man who died in police custody in Minneapolis after being restrained by a white police officer on 25 May.
The Paris protest was organised by the Black African Defense League, with member Egountchi Behanzin telling the crowd "We are more likely to die from police bullets because we are black."
Protesters gathered in Paris despite a police ban imposed a few hours before the demonstration, forbidding any gatherings of more than 10 people.
