Webinar: Unlocking the Interconnectedness of Nature and Nursing: The Illusion of Separateness |
|
Nature and Nursing are fundamentally interconnected. The metaparadigm of nursing can be broken down into four main activities to pay attention, listen, be aware and breathe. These activities not only sustain wellbeing of humanity and nature but support them to flourish. These activities challenge us to dig deep to find meaning and purpose in our experiences. Interconnectedness with nature and the balance between respite and healing supports physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual wellbeing of humanity and the earth. We see this through research in emotional, neuroendocrine, neurobiological responses to nature-based intervention. As these effects benefit our patients it must also apply to nurses as healers. Nature is our first guide and healer. By working together for a common purpose of healing self, others and the earth, we will see the best outcome for all.
