Talent agents play an important role in the career of a voicever actor. They can help establish and guide a performer's career, but what does it take to get a VO agent? What is the path? What do they expect from talent? What do I need on my demo? What do they listen for? How do I get paid? What will they really do for me? There are always a lot of questions surrounding this topic, so in this Voiceover Lab Panel, we will talk with talent agents Cynthia McLean and Brooke Barnett who specialize in representing voice talent in animation/interactive at their respective agencies. Come learn more about their perspectives and what you should be doing to move to the next level.

PANELIST INFO

Cynthia McLean is a voice over agent and department director with SBV Talent, where she has worked the past 25 of her 35 years in the commercial talent agency business. She specializes in animation, working closely with writers, producers and casting directors in television and feature animation, while remaining active in the commercial and interactive departments as well as talent payment issues.

With SBV since 1992, Cynthia got her agency legs at Cunningham, Escott & DiPene, Abrams Rubaloff & Lawrence, and Arlene Thornton & Assoc. during 1982-1992.

She is a 3rd generation California native and was raised in Los Angeles. Her bachelor degree is in English literature from UCLA.

Outside of agency life, Cynthia enjoys spending her free time with family and friends. Her hobbies include hiking, knitting, reading, and traveling. Her favorite destination getaway is Big Sur, which she enjoys with her husband, Bob. And yes, she loves cats.



Brooke Barnett is a graduate of New York University College of Arts and Sciences. Brooke began her career in Voice Over Commercials at Innovative Artists in New York and joined DPN’s Animation Voice Over Department in 2010. She represents both Youth and Adult Talent who work in film, television and interactive games.
