Can you imagine living in a polished world where potholes are extinct and road closures have disappeared? Salar Shahini and his team aim to transform the future of transportation with a mobile sensing technology and a Smart City GIS application. Salar is the GIS Director and Data Scientist for a fast-growing startup called StreetScan, which was spun out from a research project in the Civil Engineering department of Northeastern University. This talk explains how the Internet-of-Things can advance the future of transportation as StreetScan has already served over 90 municipalities, where they have successfully embraced the IoT to improve their road infrastructure.
