Velodus reviews The Banshees of Inisherin (2022) in this edition of 𝗔 𝗥𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗺 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 - a movie about a man named Padraic living on the fictional island of Inisherin in 1923 who discovers, one day, that his best friend, Colm, no longer likes him or wants to be friends with him. The film, which was nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards, was directed by Martin McDonagh and stars Colin Farrell, Brendan Gleeson, Kerry Condon and Barry Keoghan. Is The Banshees of Inisherin a poignant examination of obsession, loneliness and the pointlessness of war, or should its demise have been foretold by a person whose identity may or may not have something to do with the title of this film?
