Featuring Khalid Albaih and Suheyla Takesh, this session was moderated by afikra’s Community Lead and London-based art historian, Mysa Kafil-Hussain, as well as afikra’s Youth Academy alumna and student intern, Sarrah Rassoul.
Khalid Albaih is a Sudanese artist and political cartoonist he is also the Head of Programs at Qatar Museums. He publishes his cartoons on social media under “Khartoon!". Suheyla Takesh is the Curator of Barjeel Art Foundation, Sharjah, UAE, where she works on research, and curatorial development of exhibitions, and oversees the production of publications. ****** ABOUT THE SUMMIT ****** On January 2023, we held our first Global Youth Summit. The afikra Academy's Global Youth Summit aims to connect students to professionals doing outstanding work in the Arab World across four sectors—Arts, Entrepreneurship & Tech, Environmentalism & Sustainability, and Middle Eastern Studies. ****** ABOUT AFIKRA ****** afikra | عفكرة is a movement to convert passive interest in the Arab world to active intellectual curiosity.
