Leading up to U.S. President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration on January 20, 2021, various New School community members have worked closely with the new administration in pushing progressive ideas, policies, and agendas.
The university’s Schwartz Center for Economic Policy Analysis and the Zolberg Institute on Migration and Mobility proposed policy agendas for the Biden administration, while New School Alumni Heather Boushey, MA Economics ’96 and PhD Economics ’98 is currently serving as one of Biden's economic advisors, and Darrick Hamilton, Founding Director of the Institute on Race and Political Economy and Henry Cohen Professor of Economics and Urban Policy, served on the Biden-Sanders unity task force economics committee.
