The Armenian Genocide | Kayla Whitcomb | TEDxRanchoCampanaHS |
|
Throughout our entire life, we’re taught about the Holocaust and the events that shaped World War II. However, we spend almost no time learning about other genocides that have completely changed the world. The Armenian Genocide was a massive, brutal attack on the Armenian people during the First World War, and has affected millions for over a hundred years. Despite its massive impact, it still gets hardly any recognition worldwide, and there is little emphasis on it in education, media, or politics. Kayla Whitcomb is a Junior at Rancho Campana High School! She is half Beiruitsi (Lebanese) Armenian, and her mom and family migrated from Beirut to America 35 years ago. She loves learning and teaching, especially about the history of her culture. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
