How To Throw a Jeet Kune Do Back Fist Part 4 (Oblique Kick to Retreat) |
|
In part 4 of our JKD back fist series we look at using the back fist to cover the line (center) after throwing an oblique kick. The Oblique kick is devastating on its own but it should not be assumed it will stun, injure or even phase our opponent. You should always be ready for the next hit and using this as a framework helps us with the transition.
If you've been keeping up with our videos we hope you can see the versatility the back fist has and how it can be used as a cultivator to see openings when normally other fighters would be primarily focused on recovering. Once that understanding has been established the back fist can become other hits, like Fak Sao or hammer fist. Explore on your own! Finally, we've received a lot of comments about efficacy of our movements and while we can only demonstrate with the resources we have, You as a viewer shouldn't be asking yourself whether this works. You should be exploring the truth of the movement instead and seeing what you can pull from the drill. Can it work? Yes. Can it fail? Yes. So what are we learning here?
