What causes this annoying urinary dribble?
This little bit of urine, that dribbles out right after you pee is called the post void dribble. Medically it is described as an involuntary loss of urine immediately after urination.
It it not completely understood yet how this is caused, but multiple factors have been indicated to contribute to an urinary dribble.

- Such as prostatic urethral trapping. As you probably know, your prostate can get larger. As the prostate grows larger this can make it harder for urine to flow pass this area. Trapping a part of the urine, ultimately leading to the urinary dribble.
- Abnormalities in your urethra or a trauma of your genitalia.
- Other contributing factors can be an inflammation of your prostate, previous surgery, severe constipation, frequent coughing as in patients with asthma or COPD, being overweight and persistent heavy lifting.

How common is this post void dribble?
In recent studies about 5 to 63% of all male participants where experiencing this complaint.

Useful tips and tricks:
- After peeing you could apply an urethral massage.
- Just shake, squeeze or stretch your genetalia to get that urine out.
- Change your position while urinating.
- Try to delay peeing when you feel the urge to do so.
- Sitting down while peeing might also prevent an urinary dribble.

Treatment of urinary dribble:
- Pelvic floor exercises, also called kegel exercises. Usually it is recommended to do these exercises for 5-10 secondes, squeezing, and then 5 seconds relaxing. Aim to do 3 sets of 10 repetitions each day.
Other, more direct treatment options are the usage of phosphodiesterase type-5 inhibitors. This increase the blood flow to your genitalia. Common options are Viagra, Cialis, Levitra and Stendra.
Other possible treatment options could be Testosterone Therapy (when low testosterone is detected in blood testing) or penile injections with Alprostadil.
Beside medication, you could also try vacuum erection devices.
The last options, also the most invasive ones, are surgical treatment options. The main surgical treatment for ED is insertion of a penile implant; a semi rigid Implant and an inflatable implant.
Lastly, depending on the underlying medical problem, there are several medications which might be helpful.
