- Bocuse d'Or Weekly News #21 A woman among men -
At the German selection in Stuttgart, she was the only jury member to put make up on before the competition. Lea Linster says it loud and clear: "I want to look good, and show everybody that I'm a woman." Lea Linster is the only woman ever to win the Bocuse d'Or (which she did in 1989). She is one of the rare female chefs in the world of haute cuisine, which is renowned for being dominated by men. "Well, the world, in general is pretty masculine!" But that didn't stop her from gaining international praise for her one Michelin star restaurant in Luxemburg. In a world dominated by men, it just means that she has to fight harder... and bring her own apron! "For 25 years, they always give me an apron that's cut for a man!" But she knows this, and always brings her own. http://www.bocusedor.com http://twitter.com/Bocusedor http://www.facebook.com/BocusedorOfficial |
