In this CPHS exclusive series led by Andrew G. Clair, ‘77GP, ‘82Ph.D., participants will learn about the history of pandemics, the basic biology of the novel coronavirus (and variant) including why it is so contagious, possible long-term consequences of infections, who is most at risk, impact on public health, and the worldwide effort behind global drug and vaccine development. Highlighted will be a review of the vaccines' clinical trial data used to support the FDA authorization process with special emphasis on clinical trial safety and effectiveness information, new vaccine technology, proposed immunity, and negatives for people with underlying health conditions including allergies.
