Tom Cruise Trashed By Two Late Night Hosts For His Oscars No-Show |

Tom cruise skipped the oscars, and jimmy kimmel and David letterman weren't shy in criticizing the top gun: maverick actor for it. Jimmy kimmel live aired on wednesday. Letterman was kimmel's first guest, and the experienced television presenter just had one question for kimmel, "Where was tom cruise?"
With the nomination of his movie Top gun: maverick for six academy awards, including best picture, Best adapted screenplay, and best sound, Tom cruise was anticipated to attend the oscars last week with his co-stars. Given his significant role in the movie, Cruise was expected to attend the awards ceremony even though he wasn't a best actor nominee. In addition to serving as one of the film's producers alongside jerry bruckheimer, David ellison, and christopher mcquarrie, Tom cruise also starred in it. David letterman called jimmy kimmel out for hosting the 2023 oscars and questioned him as to why the "big shot," as letterman referred to tom cruise, wasn't there. It appears that letterman believed tom cruise should have been there as well. Although kimmel said he didn't know the reason cruise skipped the biggest hollywood event of the year, he claimed to have heard that it was due to "production concerns." Letterman dismissed the production concerns reasoning as "crap," and kimmel concurred that it was a nebulous explanation before coming up with a few more explanations for why tom cruise skipped his oscars appointment. “Maybe he feels like he wasn’t going to win, so he didn’t want to come,” the late night host suggested. Even though tom cruise may have skipped the oscars due to his lack of confidence in his movie, his other cast members nonetheless showed up on the red carpet that evening. Miles teller, Monica barbaro, Greg tarzan davis, Jennifer connelly, Jay ellis, Lewis pullman, Danny ramirez, and charles parnell were among the other members of the top gun: maverick cast present. Although maverick didn't win best picture, it did receive an oscar award for best sound. Some have speculated that tom cruise skipped the oscars to avoid his ex-wife, Nicole kidman, who played nicole in moulin rouge, or to avoid hearing jokes about scientology that made fun of his religion. Yet, if cruise had attended the ceremony, kimmel wouldn't have made the joke about scientology that he ironically did. Producer of jimmy kimmel live, Molly mcnearney claims that kimmel actually had a three-minute monologue prepared to honor cruise and his contribution to the revival of the film industry. When kimmel learned tom cruise wouldn't be attending the oscars, according to mcnearney, he was deeply saddened and abruptly changed his monologue. In the altered speech, the toast to cruise was dropped in favor of a corny joke about scientology in which cruise is referred to as "L. Ron hubba hubba." The joke is a wordplay based on the name of the founder of Scientology, L. Ron hubbard, and it alludes to a naked cruise scene in maverick. |
