Popular messaging app, Whatsapp, has come under fire after lowering its minimum age from 16 to 13 in the UK - with campaigners claiming the company is putting profits before protecting children. So does this now mean that parents need to be more vigilant when it comes to when and how their kids use chat apps? And how do you teach children to be kinder to peers when using them? Katie doesn’t think kids should be on these types of platforms because they don’t have the emotional intelligence or capacity to think before they type, whereas Joanna believes bullying and bickering would still exist among child friendship groups regardless of whether Whatsapp existed or not!
