How to React to the George Floyd Trial |

Derek Chauvin was found guilty of murder on Tuesday in a moment of celebration and jubilation following the Black Lives Matter and its apparent impact on the outcome of the case. The conviction of a police officer in Minneapolis for murdering a Black man is historic, but in this Dome Theory open Bobby Manning weighs in on why any notion put forth by politicians or companies that Floyd died for the greater good is misguided. Breonna Taylor, Daunte Wright, Freddie Gray, Rayshaud Brooks and more have died without justice in the past year, with officers going back to work or no charges filed in some of those cases. Prosecutors convicted Chauvin in spite of the law, which still gives police wide discretion to kill people in the United States, where 1,000 die annually at the hands of police. Worse, a report finds that the Floyd case result makes it less likely that Joe Biden's administration will act on police reform.
