Gov. Ron DeSantis tells Floridians that Tropical Storm Nicole is "not as bad as Ian," but still urges safety precautions.
RELATED: Tropical Storm Nicole threatens to become a hurricane https://bit.ly/3NSRh0e Tropical Depression Nicole was moving north into Georgia on Friday morning after hitting Florida the previous day as a Category 1 hurricane, where it caused havoc and knocked out power to tens of thousands of homes and businesses. The storm, which made landfall at 3 a.m. Thursday south of Vero Beach — about 81 miles north of West Palm Beach —left two people dead in the Orlando area. They were electrocuted when they touched downed power lines, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office said. Several buildings fell into the ocean. The storm could dump as much as 6 inches of rain over the Blue Ridge Mountains by Friday, the National Hurricane Center said.
