The Cookie Dilemma and Racial Inequality in US Education | Christine Kim | TEDxYouth@PoolesvilleHS |
|
Racial inequality in education is an issue that affects us all, whether it be directly or through the ones we love. Christine, an 11th grader at Poolesville High School, explores how complacency with the current system perpetuates racist structures and encourages others to start genuinely listening to the experiences of those disadvantaged, a form of advocacy that she believes is often overlooked. Through her talk, she hopes to inspire others to create discourse on racial inequality in education and spark change. Christine Kim (she/her) is a junior in the Humanities program at Poolesville high school. In her free time, she enjoys debating, playing volleyball, and writing about social justice issues for her student based newspaper, 2020 Vision. Through her TEDx Talk, Christine hopes to encourage listeners to take part in activism and raise awareness about education inequality. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
