The Players make the Game – Co-creative Game Design | Patrick Prax | TEDxUppsalaUniversity |
![]() |
Patrick Prax examines the extent to which players co-create the games they are playing. He gives an insight in the effects of player-modifications. Based on an extended case-study he suggests possible steps towards a shared cultural production that secures games as something dynamic, which allows co-creation of different levels and gives credit to those who contribute. Patrick Prax is an assistant professor in game design and researcher at the National Swedish Museum of Science and Technology. Patrick is investigating digital games from an interdisciplinary perspective of media studies and game studies. In addition, he is interested in the development of player´s co-creation to game design. With four children at home he is painfully aware that they will soon beat him in every game there is. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
