An ankle injury cut McKayla O’Connell’s figure skating career short, but she wasn’t going to let it interfere with her dreams of a national power lifting title. To help her obtain her goals, she sought the help of fellow athlete and Coordinated Health Orthopedic Surgeon Scott Sauer, M.D. Since her procedure, O’Connell believes her ankle is stronger than ever and she has shifted her focus from cross fit to power lifting. She just qualified for the 2017 USA weight lifting junior nationals and eventually she would like to make a world team or even the Olympic team for weight lifting.
