Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., gave the Republican Party’s response to President Joe Biden’s first joint address to Congress on April 28.
Scott accused Democrats of sowing more partisan division. “A president that promised to bring us together should not be pushing agendas that tear us apart,” Scott said. Scott also criticized Biden’s infrastructure proposal as a “liberal wish list” that does not have enough fixes for traditional infrastructure projects like roads and bridges. Moments before Scott spoke, Biden delivered his address live at the U.S. Capitol, though the crowd was socially distanced and significantly scaled back due to COVID-19 protocols.
