Advice for Beginners’ planning a backpacking trip to Patagonia! #chile #argentina

How I planned my trip to Patagonia!

Visiting Patagonia for the second time I wanted to leave more of the trip open and up for new explorations while on the go! I spent about one week in Buenos Aires researching and making some bookings!

I booked my flights in person with Aerolineas Argentinas (you can save money by booking with cash at the Blue Dollar rate) , booked my hostels on Hostel World and Booking.com, and I booked the O Trek in Torres del Paine, Chile through Patagoniabooking.com! (Note there is a service fee for this but it’s far easier than managing the multiple booking sites for the campsite locations in the park).

While on the road, I received recommendations from other backpackers to do such things as the mini-trekking on the Perito Moreno Glacier with Hielo y Aventura company (Note: Also pay in cash so you can get the blue dollar pricing).

Transportation was by flights and bus trips (Buses were booked on Busbud.com) or in person at the stations.

Overall, having the 30 days to explore these destinations was well worth it!

The itinerary:

El Calafate Argentina
El Chalten Argentina
Puerto Natales Chile
Torres del Paine National Park Chile
Punta Arenas Chile
Ushuaia Argentina
Bariloche Argentina
