Vietnam

Vietnam (97 MN inhabitants) has been the fastest growing economy in Asia-Pacific in recent years. The horticulture and floriculture sector have been growing by an average rate of 26.5% per year; from USD 439 million in 2009 to almost USD 4 billion in 2018. The sector is expected to continue to grow, due to strong exports, Free Trade Agreements with various partners (including the EU) and an increasing domestic demand. The interest in the Vietnamese horticulture sector has been increasing since 2005, with over 168 horticultural development projects and programs worth over USD 1 billion between 2005 and 2014.

Reduction of agrochemicals

On behalf of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Vietnam and the Netherlands Enterprise Agency, Larive International and its Vietnam-based affiliate Openasia Group, have assessed the horticulture sector in Vietnam and identified the most interesting business opportunities for Dutch companies and knowledge institutions to reduce the use of agrochemicals, improve food safety, and allow for a growth of export.
