Building the North American Semiconductor Corridor |
|
More than ever, defense, national security, and economic development are intertwined with the future of one of the most critical elements in the global economy: semiconductors. As the invasion of Ukraine, the Covid-19 pandemic, and heightened competition between the United States and China have highlighted, the United States needs a strategy to build out sections of the semiconductor supply chain closer to home to the Western Hemisphere. Multilateral cooperation, diplomacy, and trade agreements such as the United States-Mexico-Canada (USMCA), and the recent CHIPS and Science Act, are essential in the alignment of efforts to integrate North America’s semiconductor industry. The framing for this event will be the key takeaways from the North American Semiconductor Conference, and the event will delve into the challenges and opportunities that North America faces as it seeks to boost competitiveness and build resiliency and redundancy in the semiconductor supply chain. It will also seek to explore paths towards the integration of the United States, Mexico, and Canada’s current strengths and identify gaps in current coordination efforts.
