Sync
To do TrainerRoad workouts outside on a Garmin Edge head unit, sync your Garmin Connect and TrainerRoad accounts on TrainerRoad.com.

Calendar
From the TrainerRoad Calendar, select "Do Outside" for an existing workout in your training plan, or select which days of the week you typically train outside when adding a training plan to your calendar.

Custom Screen Building
For the best training experience using Garmin Edge 30 series devices, create a custom workout screen with 4 fields: Elapsed Time, Three Second Power, Lap Power and Time to Go. Once the custom workout screen is created, make sure it is in the first screen slot.

Load Workout
Access your Training Plan to view today’s outside workout and select start.

Start Workout
Once you’ve started your workout, swipe over to the custom screen, and refer back to the standard screen if you need to be reminded of your target power.

End of warmup transition
If it takes you longer to get to your training location than your scheduled warmup, that’s okay. Continue to warmup until you are in the terrain you plan to use for your intervals, then press lap when you are ready to start your first work interval.

Short vs. long
Workouts with longer, more spaced out intervals will require you to hit the Lap Button to start your next work interval, while workouts with short, closely spaced intervals will make it easier on you by automatically moving through the workout without requiring you to press the Lap Button before each work interval. Review your workout prior to starting to know which structure your workout follows.

Workout Completion
Once your workout is complete, you can swipe outside of the workout screen and continue your ride. Once the ride is complete, it will be ready for viewing and analysis in your TrainerRoad Calendar.
