“What Interconnectedness Teaches Us,” Dr. DA Masolo, TEDxUofL 2015, Feb 28, 2015, Session 1: Sustainability
The concept of globalization may be relatively recent in its wide usage, but what it describes is certainly not new. Our understanding of the world has changed significantly and many times in the course of human history. The new and emerging ideas of the world, indicated in its conceptualization as shared global space, aim at emphasizing instead the interconnectedness between peoples, and suggesting that identity, diversity, and “global commons” provide more useful ways to understand human experiences in diverse spaces of the globe. Prof. Masolo teaches courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels at the University of Louisville, covering a wide range of courses in the traditional Western and non-Western fields, and ranging from introductory courses to twentieth-century philosophical movements and comparative courses in the Humanities doctoral program. His story-telling style of teaching is both inspiring and empowering, as he often shares stories from his rich life experiences. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx |
