The number next to each players' bar is their 'rating'. It represents their skill level and is calculated based on their wins and losses. Wins against other top ranked players are worth more rating points than wins against low ranked players.

Data: Every set of tennis played in the open era until the date of uploading.

These results are then entered into the Glicko-2 rating algorithm. This algorithm is a modification/improvement on the more well known Elo rating formula. You can check the details below.

Through brute force simulations, I was able to customize the system constants so that the average rating of the top 100 players remains roughly equal across the 52 years. This allows us to more accurately compare different legends across time.
