Sapphire Skye Toth earned her Bachelor of the Arts Degree in Music Composition at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln with a Clarinet Performance emphasis and a minor in Business in May of 2022. This fall she will begin her Masters of Science Degree in Arts Administration at Boston University. A nerd at heart, Toth loves everything from traditional literature to Dungeons & Dragons to video games. This love for world-creating combined with her love of music is what drives their composing. That and seeing the fun the performers get to have as they interact on stage. This nerdiness is also the driving force behind their podcast Chatting with Creators! On the show Toth connects composers and musicians in the emerging media arts with students to dive deep into their projects and careers. As a musician Toth has played clarinet and saxophone in a variety of large and chamber ensembles since I was in middle school. While continuing to study her instruments, composing is what they truly love as an artist. In their undergraduate career Toth discovered a huge lack of support for grassroots efforts and public policy to support Education & Engagement in music. That’s why she is pursuing a degree in Arts Administration. As an arts administrator they’ve worked with The Lied Center for the Performing Arts, paladino media, Boston Baroque, Emmanuel Music, and The Glenn Korff School of Music. Toth currently work as a freelance composer and music contractor, composing for live ensembles as well as new and emerging media in addition to production managing. Notable recent projects include the score for Western Meadowlark Productions’s short film Moving in Stereo, Theme in Yellow commissioned by Dr. Andrew Peck for Renaissance Magnet High School, and The City of Forget-Me-Nots ft. Jacob “Average” Johnson and Rhiannon Ling.
