HOW TO START GETTING YOUR BAND GIGS? |
|
As a band or a singer songwriter, there are a few key things to do to start getting gigs or get more gigs. Momentum is the key and what you do before trying to get gigs is very important.
Before you try and find gig with your new band it's important to build leverage for venues and promoters so you are an attractive option to jump onto a show line-up. If a promoter of a gig is going to put you onto their show they will NEED to get people to pay to come down to the show and will need you to help with this. So proving you can bring some people down to a gig (friends and family count) is imperative. The way you prove this is via social media, if you can start getting engagement on your facebook page it will be obvious that you will be able to bring some of your local following. Who should you approach - I would approach other bands and venues and ask them if you can jump onto a show as an opening act to do 10-15 mins as that way you might be able to add to a show without pissing off other bands. In order to make it worth while if you can bring 20-30 people then other bands will be happy to get more people into their gig. If you aren't sure who to ask then approach the venue and asking the venue who do you need to talk to or which promoters should you approach. As a new band you need to go in small and be patient. Baby steps and remember the 1% rule. Start off as an opening act and let your shows and audience do the talking. For younger bands who can't get shows at over 18 nights, you should start to think about how you can put on your own shows at community centres, back gardens, your school or college, rehearsal room or even in your own garage! One last thing - when you get your first gig you squeeze the lemon and make sure you get loads of content to show off how great your shows are which becomes more attractive to promoters and gives you a lot more content for your socials to build engagement. ----------- β‘ Join my Music Business Academy DKMBA: https://www.dk-mba.com (Work with me on your music!) π² FREE Strategies & Tips on Instagram: @damiankeyes1 π FREE 21 Day Plan For Your Next Music Release: http://bit.ly/3jdtokz π Work With Me 1-1: https://bit.ly/2AvQLUM π Get My Books: Stop Selling Music: https://amzn.to/2YGWI9c The Rule Breaker's Guide To Social Media: https://amzn.to/2N1bwtV π± Get Social: Instagram: @damiankeyes1 Email: hello@dk-mba.com π About Me: Hey!
