Olyphant plays Strings McCrane, a country music and movie star, at the Linda Gross Theater of the Atlantic Theater Company, a 2016 play by Kenneth Lonergan.

Interview Synopsis:
Tim and his family go upstate New York sometimes, and his in-laws have a place up there where he has done small parts in the local community theater (not in his official theater playbill) - Hello Dolly, and Bye Bye Birdie. Tim has done a couple of (I count 3, though) off-Broadway plays in the late 90s when he used to live in New York and one was in the Atlantic Theater too (the world premiere of The SantaLand Diaries (1996)).
This time he plays Strings McCrane, a Country-Western singer who crossed-over to be a big movie star who returns to his home town when his mom passed away. While his character has dreams of working at a local feed store, the real Tim (given normalcy) would like to scoop ice-cream (perhaps an ice-cream truck) if he gives up Hollywood.
In preparing for the play's role (stuff that he's not wearing...), he had to live up to the "OMG, you're in fantastic shape"-"when you're gonna be standing there in your underwear"-level of commitment.
He playfully jokes (typical Olyphant dry humor) that The Grinder should've paid him extra for his guest role there - who else are they gonna get to play TO?
Tim is surprised and impressed that Ojinika knows about Tim and Jennifer Anniston's acting reunion with Gary Marshall's Mother's Day (2016). Apparently, not a lot of people know they both starred in Rock Star (2001).
