Dr. Takeshi Deguchi, Professor of Sociology at the University of Tokyo, at the First International Erich Fromm Research Conference in June 2014 at the International Psychoanalytic University in Berlin.

Examining Erich Fromm’s popularity in Japan, Deguchi argues that Fromm’s normative anthropology of human freedom has a great theoretical potential for criticizing today’s neoliberal reform.
