To master the active learning experience, Jim Kwik says that in order to improve your knowledge, you need to set aside at least 45 minutes a day to read to read one book a week.

Here’s what he calculated and the conclusion he came to:

The average book is about 64,000 words a day.
The average person reads about 200 words per minute.
On average, it takes 320 minutes to get through a book.
320 minutes divided by 7 (days in a week) equals only 45 minutes of reading a day.

Let’s reiterate. You only need to read for 45 minutes a day.

There’s one more secret, though — you must be sure to schedule this time and take this goal seriously. When scheduling your reading time, make sure that you schedule it during times of the day that you are awake and alert.
