On the last day of the video survey of Varanasi's Gyanvapi mosque, a lawyer, Vishnu Jain, claimed that a shivling has been found inside the well. The shivling is reportedly 12 feet by 8 inches in diameter.

Speaking about the shivling to India Today TV over the phone, Jain said that he would go to court to seek its protection. Hours later, the civil court issued an order to seal the area and prohibit entry of people.

The Gyanvapi Mosque, next to the Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi, is currently facing a legal battle. A court in Varanasi has directed the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to probe the structure of the Gyanvapi Masjid.
