(12 Apr 2017) WALKER CONTINUES HIS LATE BROTHER'S CHARITY WORK
Cody Walker is continuing his late brother Paul's charity work.
The 28-year-old actor launched the Paul Walker Memorial Tour for his charity Reach Out Worldwide in Hong Kong Saturday (8 April) posing alongside a car and speaking to the press and a crowd about the work of the charity.
Speaking about the work of the charity, Walker said that it is small and does work under the radar, and was initially just funded by his brother:
"A lot of people don't know what ROWW is. Because Paul kept it very private. It was founded 100% by him," he explained. "We didn't put on any gala or dinner or anything like that. It is a piece of him that he left behind. And we rely on our supporters and donations to continue do the work."
Reach Out Worldwide was founded by Paul Walker in 2010 and is described as a not for profit, quick response and mobile first aid unit - utilized during natural disasters or humanitarian crisis. With brother Cody taking over the helm after Paul's passing, he discussed his vision for the charity:
"My vision for ROWW is in line with Paul's vision for ROWW, and that is stay a small organization," he said. "What I mean by that is the team we send are small. What I want to do is grow the organization in the way so we can send more small teams to multiple, many things going on, simultaneously at the same time. By being here, I want to build that awareness. That is way I am here."
Walker, who has acted himself, said that he hopes to appear on the big screens again, but it is not a priority in his life right now:
"Yeah, yeah, I have been approached by projects and things like that. I have completed a couple since 'Fast and Furious 7'. So I am continuing doing that. This is first and foremost, it is Reach Out Worldwide, and I feel like if I could continue acting as well, then better for me to serve as an ambassador for Reach Out Worldwide and spread the awareness for the organization," he said.
The Reach Out Worldwide Paul Walker Memorial Tour will also stop in Australia between April 14 and 17.
