Giza Pyramids, the Great Sphinx & Valley Temple of Khafre.

All three of Giza's famed pyramids and their elaborate burial complexes were built from roughly 2550 to 2490 B.C. The pyramids were built by Pharaohs Khufu (tallest), Khafre (background), and Menkaure (front).

The Valley Temple of Khafre located in front of the sphinx was first used for the purification of the mummy of the king before burial and also for making the mummification process of the king.

Built of local limestone, it was partly covered with fine tura limestone and partly by ashlars of red granite. It was built on a square plane, measuring 482 feet on each side. This temple was buried under the desert sand until the 19th century.

The face of the Sphinx is generally believed to represent the Pharaoh Khafe.
