Russia is not committing to a ceasefire. It seemingly prefers a protracted war in Ukraine. The Kremlin has continued with its bombardment targeting the Ukrainian capital city Kyiv. This after Ukraine announced that it had attacked the Russian flagship of Russia's Black Sea fleet with a missile strike.

Russian senator Andrei Klimov addressed African editors and journalists as a war of words continues between the two countries.
